Hook Yang is an education researcher with training in applied research and evaluation. He has a strong interest in how students learn and stay motivated, with an equity-centered focus. His work centers on bilingual and EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) classrooms, drawing on experiences across educational contexts in the United States and Taiwan. He uses mixed methods to study learning processes, classroom practices, and questions that matter to both research and practice. Another area of his research lies in community psychology, drawing upon his research internship at Mitzvah Circle, a non-profit in Lansdale, PA, USA.
Beyond research, he is actively involved in academic service and volunteering in general, including journal production, peer review, and student-facing program support. He values collaboration and equity and aims to build research that is both rigorous and grounded in educational settings.
