鐵電材料可以在不同的外加電場下,形成不同的極化現象。此現象可以應用在感測器、記憶體、以及固態冷卻裝置中。這場演講中,講者將先以 BaTiO3 鐵電材料為例,介紹鐵電材料,接著說明電熱效應實現固態冷卻裝置的困境,最後以分子模擬的資料佐證。

Lan-Tien Hsu is a PhD candidate at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation at Ruhr University Bochum. She is in the group of Scale-Bridging Simulation of Functional Composites led by Prof. Anna Grünebohm.
|| 摘要(Abstract):
Ferroelectrics are materials that have spontaneous electric polarization that can be reversed by applying an external electric field. These materials respond to mechanical, electrical, and thermal stimuli and have potential for sensors, memory storage, and solid state cooling. In this talk, I will first walk through the important properties of ferroelectrics and explain how these properties enable the aforementioned applications, using BaTiO3, a prototypical perovskite oxide ferroelectric material, as an example. After introducing challenges to realize electrocaloric solid-state cooling devices, I will demonstrate, with my coarse-grained molecular dynamics data, how the electrocaloric effect and structural phase transitions of BaTiO3 single-domain crystals can be influenced by the direction of the applied electric field.
